North Road Veterinary Centre is fully equipped with a professional surgical suite and advanced monitoring equipment, to ensure your pet receives the highest standard of care whilst a surgical procedure is performed under general anaesthesia in our hospital.
Surgical procedures are performed Monday-Friday.
Most surgery is performed as a day procedure. Your pet will usually be admitted early in the morning and discharged in the evening.
Procedures range from more routine to very complex surgery and include:
- Speys
- Castrations (including cryptorchids)
- Lump removals
- Bladder stone removals
- Wound trauma
- Bowel obstructions
- Cancer surgery
- Orthopaedic surgery
Communication from our team before and after a surgical procedure is comprehensive, with honesty and compassion explaining:
- the procedure
- pre-anaesthetic preparation
- post-anaesthetic recovery
- complete discharge instructions with discharge appointment
- potential post-operative complications
- post-operative communication and revisit appointments
We understand any surgical procedure can be an anxious and concerning time for you and your pet.
A health assessment is performed by the surgeon prior to surgery. Pre-anaesthetic blood tests and intavenous fluids are recommended during the procedure.
Advanced anaesthetic monitoring equipment is used, and a dedicated anaesthetic nurse is assigned during and in recovery to enusre close montioring of your pet.
Appropriate pain relief is administered and also dispensed after surgery.
We also closely collaborate with specialist surgeons, and in some very complex surgical procedures we will recommend referral to a specialist surgeon to ensure the best possible outcome for your pet.
